Shaw 9000

Shaw Industries Floor Shield is a is a two-component, solvent-free, water based epoxy barrier coating specifically engineered to reduce the moisture vapor transmission (“MVT”) of a concrete slab to industry acceptable levels for floor covering installation. It is formulated to be applied to concrete slabs with a MVT rate of up to 12 lbs./1,000 sq. ft./24 hours and will lower the MVT rate to an acceptable rate of 3 lbs./1,000 sq. ft./24 hours. Shaw 9000 provides an excellent barrier coating with long term water and humidity resistance, and offers good solvent, chemical and corrosion resistance. Shaw 9000 will provide adhesion to damp concrete and has a rapid room temperature cure. Shaw 9000 may also be used as a concrete floor sealer for sealing against dust and porosity, and for use as an asbestos encapsulator over vinyl asbestos tile. An additional benefit of Shaw 9000 is that when used prior to installation of new floorcoverings with new adhesives it will seal pre-existing adhesive residue from cutback adhesives, multi-purpose adhesives, and pressure sensitive adhesives. It is specifically recommended for use where new vinyl back floorcoverings are being installed to prevent plasticizers in the vinyl back materials from reactivating or further plasticizing the pre-existing adhesive indicated above.
